Hello!
As I lay in bed last night thinking over the big step I’d taken – starting a blog, I chased sleep as much as I chased the thoughts that followed each other through my weary mind. I got to thinking about all the deep things that creep into your mind when you are supposed to be sleeping.
I won’t invite you into the labyrinth that were my tangled thoughts, but I pondered my life (as you do in the dark hours of the night!).
I thought about the things that I have been through in the course of my life, the hard times, the painful days, the amazing experiences and those things I don’t like to talk about.
What is the point of going through all hard stuff?
Yes, ‘walking through the valley of the shadow of death’ can make us wiser, braver and stronger. But what if it went further than that?
What if it went beyond us?
What is it all for, if not to share them with those that need to hear it?
What is it all for, if not for the people who need to know there is hope on the other side of that grief, or any other difficult situation others live through daily?
I guess that is one of the reasons for my decision to start a blog (there are a few!).
To encourage (not just myself) people out there in the world, to Just Write It!
Write your story!
Someone out there needs to read your story, whether it be an inspirational fictional novel, an autobiography, a song, poem or a blog post.
Our lives can be a wealth of knowledge and wisdom, worthy of being shared in all the raw intense honesty in which people need to hear it.
I feel that in this modern age with all the social media out there, we want to show our best selves and can be afraid to be real.
Back in the olden days (when I was a kid) we lived in a small town where we knew our neighbours, all of them.
Information and wisdom was passed from mother to daughter, friend to friend, neighbour to neighbour.
Our lives were real.
People knew our family.
Were rode our bikes to our friend’s house, we got dirty, we chased each other with sticks and had epic arguments we were sure the whole neighbourhood could hear.
In this modern era, people have forgotten how to live as a community, we don’t know each other because we don’t want to be known.
In saying that, there are some amazing ‘mum bloggers’ out there on the inter-web (jokes! I’m not that old!) who are killing it in the ‘being real’ department. They are sharing what their real life is like and allowing the rest of us mums to feel normal and not guilty, for not being perfect every moment of every day.
Real stories.
Your stories.
Just Write It!
